Oktoberfest

fall

In honor of the best beer holiday we can think of, raise your stein!

The fall of 2014 saw the first rendition of the HCB Oktoberfestbier which debuted at our Oktoberfest block party . The bier was a sensation!

History

Oktoberfest began in Munich as a celebration of the marriage of Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese in 1810. The festival has since been held annually, serving only beers that abide by the Reinheitsgebot - the German Purity Law. Oktoberfests have traditionally been brewed in March and lagered during the summer months until the festival began. Over the past 2 centuries, few variations of the Oktoberfestbier have been created by the 6 main breweries that supply the festival; however, globally, breweries have put their own unique touch to the style.

Appearance

The bier pours a dark amber with a thick head that leaves a beautiful lacing on the glass.

Aroma

A light grainy aroma undertones the bold Munich malt and spicy Noble hops.

Flavor

A complex maltiness pervades the body as Munich and Vienna malts play with traditional crisp German hops on the palate.
