The traditional drink of the English blue-collar worker, our Porter is an honest tribute to the grit and grind.
We took this classic English style and jazzed it up a bit with additions of chocolate and rye malts. It's still the same hearty, roasty ale you know and love, but with loads of robust chocolate flavor and subtle spicy notes from the rye. Best enjoyed with your fellow chaps around the campfire.
History
Porter is the namesake of the rough, hardworking men who carried goods in commerce around London in the 17th and 18th Centuries. In its early days, Porter was brewed with malts roasted over wood fires, giving the beer a smoky character. After the advent of the industrial revolution, Coke furnaces allowed maltsters to create pale malt and black patent malt, which produced a more drinkable beer.
