The traditional drink of the English blue-collar worker, our Porter is an honest tribute to the grit and grind.
A hearty beer, ours takes advantage of the opportunity to display its inherent coffee and chocolate notes, and does so with hints of spice leading up to a roasty finish.
Porter is the namesake of the rough, hardworking men who carried goods in commerce around London in the 17th and 18th Centuries. In its early days, Porter was brewed with malts roasted over wood fires, giving the beer a smoky character. After the advent of the industrial revolution, Coke furnaces allowed maltsters to create pale malt and black patent malt, which produced a more drinkable beer.
